The Sleeper:
[ Writing ] [ Home ]Crystal clear, crystal clear,
waters deep, salty;
home to fish, crabs, snails,
dolphins, whales, the list goes on -
home, too, to something far more grand.
Columns fallen, roofs that
came crashing down centuries before -
statues of long-forgotten gods, kings, heroes
sleep the long sleep now.
Should anyone sail a ship over this
lonely place, they might see it:
the city that sleeps, seaweed strangled,
home now only to the fish.
Torches quenched
It sleeps at last.
